My Basement Shack

I will post pictures of my main shack once the 996 arrives and I re-organize & sell off some other radios. I have a second shack in the basement so I can enjoy some cigars while I listen and use the computers. On the scanner shelf from top left to right, then down are; PRO 2044, BC 210, BC 210XL, PRO 2048, BC 210XL, & PRO 2020. There are 3 computers and a 13" TV at my post. The PRO 2048 and BC 210 are connected to a PA system amplifier with speakers around the basement in the ceiling. It is set up with the 210 as primary, and 2048 as secondary. This means the 2048's audio is always going, but when the amp detects the 210's audio, it cuts off the 2048 and plays the 210. It is like a whole scanner set up as priority!

Bearcat Scanners

Man, oh, man....Those OLD Bearcat programable scanners!!!! I wich I had mine back. They finally just wore out and "gave up the ghost" years ago!!!!

Do yours still work? I can't remember all of the model numbers of the ones I owned, but, way back then, I remember they were expensive !!!! I had at least one BC21XL. They had great reception too !!!

They still hold up, I have one broken one laying around for parts. I been saving them when I come across at swaps, flea markets, or even you can get one $20 or less on E-Bay! I have another 210 & 210 XL waiting for a home. I also have a full collection of a BC 210, 210XL, 210XL Montgomery Ward edition, 220, and 250 plus a 150, 151, and 160... and I came across a perfect BC210XL in a box that is mint! They are nice solid radios!

Nice setup I to have a 210XLT and it has ran 24/7 since I got it, kinda wish Id have never gotten rid of some of my old radios, One of these days when my kids are on their own I will move it into one of their rooms. Good Job A+...........hoser147

God I had the scanner in the middle top. It was my first one and it lasted about 10 years, then it wouldn't hold a program anymore.

First, nice setup. Second, I have to agree with the positive comments on the old hardware. I also have a 210 that is in constant service. Works great, and frees up the more capable/expensive radios for other tasks.

I had a 210XL that I bought sometime in the early 90's. Loved that scanner but I think I sold it about 10 years back. I don't remember selling it but it is the only reason I can figure as to why I don't have it anymore. I think I bought the one I had brand new from Best Buy.

I have 2 mag mount antennas that use the duct work in the basement nearby as a ground plane. Works well for a basement, I can get clear into the next county north of here (Monmouth)
