What is the use of the "go kit"?

I use the go kit for a lot of things. Some examples are large events that communications are needed, ARES, RACES, MA for the local fire department (two weeks ago they had a large storm go threw the city and they needed more radios and battery's for their XTS5000's because they had no power so they called me and I went to the station and took over communications)
