Here is my modest mobile setup that my brother and I installed.

List of equipment in 1996 Chevy S-10
The console is a Jotto-Desk (picked up used for a great price)
As you can see at the top I have an xm-radio.
At the center is a Pro-96.
At the bottom is a Yaesu FT-2800m
At the passenger side of the truck is a Radio Shack amplified speaker for audio of the pro-96.

We ran all cables professionally under the trim of truck and fused everything to a power distribution center. The antennas are an NMO mounted Comtelco 2m 1/4 wave and a Comtelco 5db gain 800. I went with the pro-96 instead of the pro-2096 because I wanted portability and I am to broke to have both...

Thanks for looking,

You could run that XM antenna better, do a better job next time :p

No really, looks good. Not sure if I could stand the scanner sideways like that, but that's me. Do you have a view of how the antennas are Oriented? IE:: front to back or side by side?

Thanks, I like the setup for what it is. The antennas are front to back.. The xm antenna is to the right of the 800mhz antenna. Yeah I agree with you on the wire of xm antenna but Thats bout the only part that I went tacky on lol... As for the scanner being sideways I did not know if I liked it at first either but it is easy to read the way it is.

Well to let you know first of all the ham radio was scanning. Its also has alpha tag and there is no mod to the radio to talk on fire freq's and to let you know you should know that ham radios have a extened rx from 137-174 so make sure you know your stuff before you talk. Another thing this is a post site to show your hobby and what you do for fun. You don't like it don't say anything.

Nice setup man. I like the console.

And to pddispatcher....I have several FD and PD freqs in my HAM radio to monitor, but my radio does not transmit on them either. Strictly RX only as it was designed to do. You should never assume he is USING it for something that you have no factual knowledge of.

Then its fine and dandy...

I'm just saying because it said BAFD and as "QUOTED" My intention was not to thread crap!!!

I do the same by using a ham radio to monitor PD and what not but we all know how easy it is to just unsolder or cut a wire to make it TX and I've seen people busted for it.

Not trying to dog or thread crap but don't want to see anyone in trouble.

That is a fantastic setup you got there. Wish I had room to do something like that in my SUV.

Nice Install. Do they make an NMO XM/Sirrius antenna?

Not as I've seen, and I've been a user for a looooong time. They do make "trucker style" antennas.

a lot of us in Ham Radio have multiple uses for our gear. It's OK to receive with our gear,There is nothing wrong with that. The sticky part is when you go inside and clip clip a couple of wires. then that could be a problem! I use fcc type excepted 2 way radios to use on my other public safety channels that I am authoried to use.Just my thoughts on this matter.Tim DeLong W9NES Ham Radio Operator.Chief Northwest Emergency Services Search And Rescue Team.Indianapolis,Indiana
