I am a registered owner of ProScann. Great program. I also have it set up to connect to my network with a Static IP address with a CAT5 cable directly to my router. I have it set up so I can connect via my phone when I'm not home.
Once every two days or so, my phone's client software goes black, the audio stops, and I lose connection to it. I solved this by installing a remote controlled AC power switch feeding the radio that I can cycle when this happens, but I'm wondering if there's a better way to fix this problem. Cycling power makes the problem go away immediately until a day or so later. I'm running Norton Anti Virus software. I have port forwarding set up properly on my router (I can hear scanner audio from my phone). This has been going on since I got the scanner about a year ago. I don't know what I don't know, so that's why I'm asking youze guys here on this forum. Any ideas?

There are two separate connections involved.
1. Scanner to ProScan communications.
2. ProScan Web Server to phone browser.

It sounds like the 1st connection is the problem since a remote control AC switch feeding the scanner solves the problem. I'm sure the screen on ProScan banks out too.

A few things you can try:
Check your computer power management Ethernet (if using) or USB (if using). If that looks okay then if using the scanner LAN port then perhaps swap out the Ethernet cable or try the USB port. Same with the USB port. If using the USB port then try the LAN port.

Is there any chance it's the computer power management turning ports off at certain interval
I'm not ruling anything out. I just checked and I have the 'balanced' plan. My 'problem' has been happening several times per day recently and I don't think I changed anything. I think I'll totally disable any power saving 'features' to see if that fixes my problem. I wasn't originally looking at this, because like I said, all I have to do to bring my remote clients (my phone) is to cycle power on the SDS-200 radio itself. I don't have to touch my computer or router. Still, it's worth a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

decent chance a Windows update could change the setting without you knowing too
Yes, I HAVE absolutely seen that things get all hosed up if a Windows Update happens overnight just about everytime. It just seems to be happening a lot more frequently than what I would expect for Windows Update pushes, but those are generally times when the update forces my computer to turn off.. Who knows? You may be right. Thanks for reading and responding.

Yes, here's what I typically see on my computer screen when this happens. The radio continues to operate just fine, but the link breaks. This is getting irritating, so I'm game to try anything. Thanks for the ideas, I'll definitely try all of them.

Lookie what I found... I think I'll ONLY uncheck the first box and see if that fixes the problem. Thanks A TON for the lead. I had no idea this existed.

Unchecking only that top box didn't fix the problem. I'll look for other 'power saving' things on my computer that's running Proscan that may need to be disabled. A few months ago, I changed routers. This 'going black' problem was happening with the old router, too. I'm now wondering if I may need to put Proscan on a completely different computer on my network. I've got a few junkers I could use for that purpose. We'll see. Thanks again, everyone, for the suggestions.

Upon further review, maybe it DID fix it. The one hickup I had might have been due to something else. The audio's been running fine now for a few days straight and that's a WHOLE LOT BETTER than it ever was before. Thanks to all of you guys for pointing me in the right direction. I love this hobby.
