My first (I say first because I already want more) RTL-SDR v4 should get delivered today.

I am currently using an old Dell Studio XPS 435mt mini tower that only had usb 2.0 ports. I added a usb 3.0 pcie card to give me 2 regular usb 3.0 ports and one usb-c port. I also have a very bobo 7 port 3.0 hub that is NOT powered. I see conflicting guidance, not necessarily on this site, as to which version of usb to use specifically with the RTL-SDR v4. Thoughts? Concerns?

I figured I should ask before plugging in.

Thanks

Should or shouldn't matter?

So 3.0 is ok to use along with a powered usb 3.0 hub when using one or more v4 dongles. Is that what you're saying?
2.0 is fine till you get into sdr's with higher sample rates(all about traffic flow on the usb highway 😉😆) 3.0 has a higher/faster data rate. A powered hub is good in that the sdr isn't depending on the computers usb power supply(with a powered hub the sdr has a consistent supply)

My budget is tighter than a bull in mating season. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I could get away with for both powered 2.0 and 3.0 hubs? Just asking for down the road.

Just got the v4 up and running!! Hearing that first signal, on the first try, even though it was just a radio station, made me pretty happy. I ended up using a short usb extension out of one of the front usb 2.0 ports. There's 2 up front but one is taken up from a bluetooth dongle that I added to the pc as well. Definitely should look into a hub regardless with all the usb stuff I have. I did find out that my bobo unpowered 3.0 hub does not work in a 2.0 port. So there's that. Looking forward to playing with this thing.
