Howdy Guys & Ladies,
I just want to let you guys know that we have a D-Star Repeater that is up and running but there is no gateway so you wont be able to talk to other stations around the states. The frequency is 147.18 with a postive offset with no tone. Right now there is 6 user's that talk on the repeater and so far its been real nice to talk other stations around the local Nashville Area. 73's Jamie

Great to hear about another D-STAR system on-the-air...

I’m down here in east Alabama and we have the D-STAR repeater on Cheaha Mountain (highest point in Alabama 2407 ft.).

145.300- Digital Voice WB4GNA C GATEWAY COMING SOON!
442.425+ Digital Voice WB4GNA.B
1.293.00/1.273.00 DIGITAL VOICE WB4GNA A Coming Soon!
1.253.0 Simplex Statewide for Digital Data WB4GNA A Coming Soon!

I’ve also been able to hit the Tuscaloosa Tall Tower from well over 100 miles away and I only have the ICOM IC-V82 (with D-STAR chip of course) and using a 5/8 mag-mount antenna.

145.350- DIGITAL VOICE W4TTR C 1800 FEET GATEWAY COMING SOON!
442.900+ DIGITAL VOICE W4TTR B 1800 FEET
1.2 VOICE AND DATA COMING SOON!

There are several other D-STAR repeaters here in Alabama with others soon coming...

When D-STAR first started around here (before the repeaters were put up) there were only 4 to 6 users experimenting on simplex. Now there are probably more than 30 users and it seems to keep growing every week or so...

Just wanted to let everyone know that the d-star repeater is up and running again after an hour fooling around moving it from one location to another location. Me and AF4TZ hooked up everything back up and for the straight 2nd day its working. Come on by and take a listen! Still no gateway though but working on it.

I've found that if your in Gallatin, Hendersonville, Nashville, Brentwood & Cool Spring's area's will hit into the D-Star repeater and not sure about the other county's around Nashville. Come On By & Take A Listen To Us On D-Star. 73's Jamie

Does anyone foresee a future for D-Star? How does the voice quality & range compare with the lousy sounds I hear on P25 systems?

Sorry but, I have not been involved with it and just want to know if it is worth the investment.

I have tower sites.
