The mississippi freq database shows an update for the natchez trace parkway. It states that if anyone has their new frequencies, to submit them. Where would be the best place to search for their new frequencies? What range?

Suggested Ranges

I did a little web searching, and almost all of the park/ranger type
fed. freqs. I saw were in the 164-174 range, so that's where I've been scanning. I'm fairly confident 165.6 is the new replacement for 171.675.

I've been searching and found nothing between 172 and 174 MHz, other than "data" on 172.425 and on/off "carrier" on 172.595. I'm currently searching 163-170 MHz. Tnx.

Somebody check165.6 pls

165.6 seems fairly active with what sounds to be apco traffic, strong signal here in JXN. I went to the local Radio check and used a pro-96, but much to my shame, I couldn't remember the freq. when I was in the store :(. If i get ahold of one again how do I put it in digital receive mode?

Umm If I remember right.... The digiscanners will automatically decode APCO 25 signals as long as encryption is NOT used.

The Natchez Trace Parkway is using 165.6000 MHz with APCO P25, but I'm not convinced yet that this frequency is on a nearby tower (Mynot, Al. at 8 miles). The old frequencies; 171.6750 MHz was in Tupelo and 171.7750 MHz was at the Mynot tower. I live 60 miles from Tupelo. 165.6000 MHz is mediocre and should be full scale here. I'm still searching. There is activity on 169.6750 with a rather strong digital type signal, but it won't decode. I did hear an APCO P25 signal on 166.2375 rather strong late tonight. I'll continue to monitor for stronger sigs.

I'm using the new Uniden BCD 396T connected to a 10 element 2 meter vertical yagi at 65'. Actually I have two, one beamed east, one beamed west. I used them a couple years ago for my 2 meter ham packet DX Cluster reception. When the weather cools, I'll install an omni-directional scanner antenna on the tower.

If I hear any other Natchez Trace active frequencies, I'll post. Tnx.

166.2375 MHz is the Natchez Trace Parkway and must be the tower that is near to me. It is an APCO P25 signal, with 4-5 bars (strong) on the BCD396 T.

165.6000 MHz
166.2375 MHz

Both Natchez Trace Parkway frequencies.

Tnx GlacierClipper. The Tower nearest to me is Mynot, Alabama at about 8 miles. I can climb my ham radio tower and see it. To my knowledge, Tupelo, Ms. is the next closest one south of me and Collinwood, Tn. is the next closest one north of me. I think 165.6000 MHz is the frequency at Tupelo. Not sure about Collinwood.

With the usual setup, NTNP Uses a 2 chan system... with one in use in each district as primary, the other as an alternate.. simulcast most times throughout the entire system.... Sometimes you will hear different traffic on each chan.. say if the rangers and the maint. guys are very busy.. then they will use the different chans as seperate entities. This is rare.

You were talking to some one and told them you were going by the caves on the Natchez Trace. I was about 6 or 7 car lenths ahead of you and you turned off on Maud road. Oh, yeah you got quite a collectoin of antaneas Any way, just thought it was kinda strange coincident.
