Scanning with my Uniden 996, via remote control. Went to jump, service scan and went to special. There is a ton of traffic here across around 5 or 6 frequencies, but none of the frequencies post a tag (other than the frequency itself). Not sure how Uniden sets up it default "special" frequencies, but I'm trying to decipher who is on these channels. Seems like some of them are possibly police/911, some are just chatter. I did identify a repeater that was having a net meeting of some type. I haven't been able to ID the frequencies in the RR database, so no idea where they are coming from or how far away they are. Using a Taurus Desktop 25-2000 Mhz Scanner Antenna and it has pretty good range, so they could be up to like 50 miles away. I'm in Virginia, on the coast. Since I am a hearing-impaired HAM, it's difficult to catch enough words. I use a text transcriber, but that's really not fool proof either. Most of the frequencies are in the 460-464 range,

So what are the frequencies you are wondering about? And I assume they are on the peninsula in Tidewater

I found this post that contains a table of the Service Search limits.

The "special" system search is intended to target the itinerant business frequencies.
