Just curious if anyone is close enough to the NAC downtown Ottawa to hear any radio comms. It's been a while since
hearing anything on 168.870/169.680 repeater, not close enough, unsure if it's still operating, or changed frequencies.
TAFL shows fairly low TX ERP, leaky coax system, so expect short range. I recall being in Confederation Park near
Rideau Centre and with HH scanner could barely hear its UHF Cap+ system only a few hundred metres away.

TAFL shows another repeater pair 163.680/167.565 but don't hear anything on the output, though picked up a bit of DMR on
input frequency but not enough to decode; could be another user.

It's too bad you didn't ask this question a few days ago. I was at the NAC Sunday night to watch a performance. I could've done a quick check on it. While in the parking garage, there's basically nothing, but then again my small mobile antenna fell over going in. Height limit is 6ft 4. Sorry I can't offer more then that though at his point.

One thing I noticed while downtown. Mobile scanning is horrible. Too much interference especially coming through some conventional vhf channels. I suppose if I had the time to go down there though and actively listen with no interference it'd be a great spot.

The lower repeater pair is also licensed to Museum of Nature but I hear nothing on it. They are not very far apart so their TX power must be low to avoid interference, if indeed they are active. Still hearing some weak DMR simplex on 167.565 (input).

I agree, intermod downtown can be horrific at times, thanks in part to all the continuous carriers from CCs etc; but
I manage to heard things from as far west as Foymount, and east to Mt. Tremblant (two gigantic "hills").

I heard a bit of weak simplex on 169.680 last night, did not make out the content or location. NAC will
be rather unbusy for the next while with live performances (unless they've found a way to socially-distance
the performers and stream it, anything's possible...).

Meantime In TAFL I discovered this is input to another low-power repeater on 165.030 for Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club,
will give that a listen.
