Could anyone post the NBPD radio codes? Awhile back someone posted the NBPD radio codes from the most recent ScannerMaster over on fordyce, but with the shutdown of the site, this valuable info was lost. New Brunswick police is listened to by many, so I think many would appriciate it. I remember some of the codes, but its always nice to have a complete list.

I love you like a son, but it's time for some toughlove

Eric,

I am just as disappointed as everyone else regarding what happened to Mr. F's board, but perhaps you've brought attention to the silver lining to this entire dark cloud -- maybe it might encourage some self-reliance on the part of some scannists in our area, as opposed to leaning on the crutch that the Long Island and NorthEast Scanning Resources board (and, to some extent, this very board) has become for some.

You suggest in your own post above what was the truth about much of what was offered on the LI&NESR boards..material cut from Scanner Master. As many of you already know, I have been a firm advocate, since joining the various boards, that every radio shack in the New York Metro area should have some basic reference material on hand; that being:

- Edition seven of Scanner Master's New York Metro / Northern NJ Communications Guide,
- a copy of Police Call (what ever volume covers your state),
- and a copy of Radio Reporter.

You might be thinking "Hey, you old man, in this day and age of ready access to whatever info I need online, how obsolete is the idea of bound, printed reference books?" Well, I have a few responses to that. For one thing, the power isn't always going to be on at home to be able to look something up on the 'net. Two, I'm not that rich yet to be able to afford mobile Internet access, so when I'm out-and-about my Scanner Master's almost always with me, and lastly....look at what happened to Jim's 'site. Not to mention that some easy research often prevents one from posting silly questions, the answers to which could have been looked up on ones own {this is not directed to you, Eric}.

Eric, for your 'professional' growth in this hobby we call scanning, please consider clicking on the Frequency Guide hyperlink at www.scannermaster.com and order yourself a copy for your library at home.

Best wishes,

SCANdal

Agree with the above...what if your away from the computer and out and about in the field, without the $$ or power requirements for a laptop computer?? I have purchased the 7th edition of Scanner Master's NY/NJ Frequency Guide and what an information resource it is!! There's stuff in the guide that's still valid that I can't find on any other site! It's always best to have a back-up hardbound copy of materials for your use...that way in any kind of event that occurs (terrorism, natural disaster, etc.) you can have a reliable source of info. that can go with you on the go, even if the power goes out.

As far as the re-posting of the codes go, I would encourage the purchase of the guide. It's money well worth spending, and will not be disappointed!

I tend to agree, but we folks in Central New Jersey have to buy both the New York and Philadelphia books from Scanner Master to get coverage of our area! That means shelling out $60 for two books that have lots of superfluous information about Weschester (both of them, the PA one and the NY one). Why doesn't Scanner Master just cut the info from those two books and also offer one that just covers the twenty one counties of New Jersey? I'd buy that one in a heartbeat, each time it comes out.

Fortunately, we folks in CNJ have a very good specialized online guide for our three local counties at http://www.jim-robbins.com/radio/ to make up for it.
