I have about 30 of these portables and have been very impressed with them. Currently mine have about 250 channels in them both LTR and conventional. audio is loud and clear. receive is good. we even had one run over by a heave fire truck (luckily in moist ground). The radio had mud caked all over and in it. it was still functioning and after a thorough cleaning it continues to work today. I say give a radio to 30 volunteer fire fighters who are carrying these radios 24/7 (fire fighters are also farmers, ranchers etc) and you will know quickly just how good a radio is. We have had them for over a year and have had no problems. Programming is easy. We put these radios up against the M 1550xls and found the Kenwood to perform just as well or better than the M.

2101,
Thanks for your reply. This is exactly what i was looking for. I know all about the rough and tumble that radios go through with vol. fire fighters. I know I am very abusive to radios.
Do you have the program software? What is it called? The reason I ask is I have alot of the software and want to see if I already have it. If not I need to find it.

i love mine, and you if you use the two-tone decode for more than one set of pages, you can give them a custom sound so you can hear the difference, love that
