W9NES are you sure that it is not the NAWAS System that is being used. NAWAS is regionalized as you are stating and it is also localized. You might want to check on that, it is a hard wire system and does not use any RF. Everything that you have described so far sounds just like NAWAS.

Dispatcher 308, thanks for the pm.If you want the list send a pm to Alabama RS.He is the one who sent me the list.No I am not talking about the NAWAS system.NAWAS is mostly dedicated Phone lines for point to point communications.Region 5 as do other regions have radio freqs that are being used across the US.

yup
Maybe there is a 139 Mhz FEMA repeater in Indianapolis that is connected to Chicago via landline, internet, microwave, satellite, or shortwave.

FEMA used to be heard on a 143.60 repeater in the Boston area and I think that FEMA still has a underground bunker in Maynard Mass that serves as their New England Emergency Operations Center.

Possibly the Washington DC area had a FEMA net on 173 Mhz - with a command post in Olney Maryland. (Actually - I think that Olney FEMA transmitted on 173 Mhz - and all the other EOCs replied via a 166 Mhz freq - it was not a repeater system - more like a taxi cab system.)

That FEMA "frequency list" is very very out-of-date and pretty much useless. Most of their spectrum assignments (VHF and UHF) has changed due to the narrow-banding initiative. A lot of their "field" frequencies are P25 and quite a bit has moved to the Federal UHF bands.

There is a renewal of the FNARS HF radio infrastructure also underway. A lot of the frequency assignments will most likely change as a result of that work.

Depending on your State, MARS is mostly HF altho you might find some good VHF Nets from time-time in different regions.

Take some time [MARS is not just Disasters and there is activity routinely] to search the 138-144 / 148-150.8 bands

lots has changed due to Narrowbanding

I just noticed that. I did check in the Wiki and there is NO listing for MARS or FEMA freqs.
If there is please foward me the page or the link.

FEMA FREQUENCIES!

You may want to check these frequencies out and see if they are active in your area.
(These are repeaters) 142.975 A/D, 143.975 A/D, 167.975 A/D = E.O.C. Network, 168.400 A/D = S&R Operations, 168.075 A/D = S&R, 418.575 A/D & 418.075 A/D = S&R Task Force, 143.000 A/D = E.O.C. Portable Repeater system.

Im in Illinois

Of course it would ALSO helpf you posted where you live except for the drivel you did. THAT helps a lot.

Pardon my drivel. Im in Illinois Chicago area.

Thanks for the outputs.Im also interested in the inputs to monitor them while they are in close
proximity. PL/DPL isnt necessary. And what does "A/D" mean? sorry for so many questions
thanks in advance.

A/D likely means analog / digital. I've had a scanner running for months on the old VHF frequencies and never picked up a thing. Ditto for the new UHF frequencies, but that is likely because they are used for portable repeaters and simplex operation. No clue what $NAC they use, but here is a list that Capitol Hill Monitor's Club posted as reported to be in use by MERS. The folks who are close enough to hear these are probably not thinking about scanners, but surviving a disaster and trying to put their life back together, which is why I suspect we never saw much federal "comm intel" come out of Katrina and get posted here.

MARS/FEMA freqs.

While I DID find the CAPS freqs on here in the Illinois area,Still having one heck of a time finding MARS
Freqs as well as active VHF Fema repeater sets,

I spent the better part of a day googling MARS and they hold onto this info like its their children.
Im sure it can be found but this is a very daunting task.

It gets worse when I ask for output/input pairs. Ill dig some more and will let you know what I unearthed.

South Florida MARS had a VHF net on 143.990 MHz analog (148.010 input) located in Ft. Lauderdale. I haven't monitored in a while so I'm not sure if it's still active.
