I am brand new to the scanner world.
I just purchased a bc296d hand held and dont have a clue where to start.
Is there any way to get a cloned copy of freq. for the dfw area of texas.
or a file i can copy to the bc296ss software.

thanks mike

I think that the most fun with this hobby is finding the frequencies & talkgroups & setting up your scanner the way YOU want it. Either way, I think this is the best website by far. If you send a small donation, you can get to the database, which is awesome.

Jerry, thanks for the kudo's; however, no donation is necessary to gain access to the database. Just registration, which mike has already taken care of. :)

Whoa. I said you have access to, which means you can get to them, view them, etc.

To download trunking information, you do have to be a contributing user; however, more importantly, you have to have some software that allows access to the trunking part of the database. I don't think that Uniden implemented a web access yet; however, I do think that Paul was working on it. Also, remember, only the trunking information can be sucked off of the site that way. You can of course use copy/paste with most Windows software and do your own file up.

I think it's better to program it yourself the way you want it. Especially if you are new to scanners, it gives you a better understanding of how it works and what you can do with it.
