To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey guys,

since a few days I own a two-way-radio "Motorola MTS2000 Flashport". Model No. is H01RDH9PW1BN.
I use a RIB, not a ripless cable, witch is sold in ebay... The software I own is "Wookie 2.01". This software reports the following error:

"Radio contains suspicious errors". If I trie to write a new codeplug, I could not find the right model number in the dropdown menu of the software. Seems not to be the right program.

Has anyone an idea which software i need to programm this radio? It is still programmed on amateur radio service, but I want to change the logical zones and the power-on message.

thanx for your help.
regards, Dany

You need mts2000 cps or mtsx dos software depending on what it was programmed with last.

Hello Skypilot007,

Wookie is an universal software to program different motorola radios like gp-series and gm-series. I think Batwings21 is right, I will need a software specially for this radio. I guy in my area told me yesterday that there is necessary a special "smart RIB" with a processor programmed by motorola. This device cannot be homemade. :-( . He also told me that this device will cost about 500 $.

You can use the cables and RIB that you have now. All you need is the MT2000/MTS2000 RSS or MTS2000 CPS

Thanks, chrismol1. Yesterday I found a fatal error in wiring the cable between radio and RIB. I just have to correct this problem and then I will try it. On my computer I have installed MTS2000CPS Ver. R02.00.01 . I´ll tell you if something new happened. But at the moment I am waiting for some spare parts to rebuilt my cable.

Wookie is basically a European version of Lab for the Jedi series.

Definitely not something that anybody should ever try programming a radio with unless they know exactly they're doing.

Would / can wooki be used to change a MT2000 from full 16 key to 6 key limited ?

Note: I have tried so-called MT2000 MTSX LAB and no luck...

Possibly. I'm pretty sure it can generate a new code plug based on what model # you tell it.

What I'm not sure of is if it supports North American radios.

You'd probably be farther ahead just buying the correct model of radio. Can't imagine that radio would sell for more than $100.

There are some components that are the same between the model 3 and model 2. You should be able to use lab and write a new one but you have to go over it with a fine tooth comb because anything overlooked will cause it to malfunction

Anyone playing around with Lab Tools and Jedi radios should research the issue of "toolproofing."

The MTSX Lab have a sub menue that allow to change Keyboard types , however i think that the logic board should support this also (depend on its model and Ram capability )
Good Luck

Programming Motorola MTS2000 800 mhz with CPS

I just got a used Motorola MTS2000 800 mhz radio. And would like to know exactly how to program them.
I bought the necessary cables: RIBless cable and usb to 9 pin serial cable. I also downloaded the MTS2000 CPS Programming software. Then I hooked the radio to the computer. I tried to let the software read the radio and got the following message: Communication with radio failed. I am unsure what to do next.

Anyone please help me out on what to do to program these MTS2000 Radio. Thanks.

You should check the com port setting in the CPS Settings. Make sure it's the right one based on the com port setup in windows device manager. If you're using the right cable, that's about all that could be left. Also, it is possible to fry the Chinese ribless cables. I have done it. Make sure you're careful and turn on the computer, then connect the radio, then turn it on. Turn off the radio, disconnect it, and turn it back on just to be safe.

You should also make your own thread in the future.

You can also use a programming service on eBay.

Also, latest and final MTS CPS Version is R02.03.00
