• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Thank you for taking my report so seriously.
I did take it seriously. You have no idea what has been done behind the scenes. That said, you are the one who is trying to stifle conversation by saying "enough already" and talking about "measuring contests". You are a self-avowed Scanner Enthusiast and Emergency Services Buff. Based on what I publicly know about you, I would take the opinions of the professionals who have posted over your repeated posts. Your initial post in the thread carried your contribution. Your next post was to complain about the thread going downhill. Sometimes you just have to ignore the posts you don't like and move on.

I understand that. I will take my signature down as people, including you, seem confused about it. And I don't need you telling me who I am. You don't know me personally. I do not have to explain myself or who I work for on a public forum. I do this for personal reasons. I have taken the opinions of the many professionals posted in this thread and agreed with them. What I have not done is take the words of the people who say that other people's opinions don't matter because this is a "hobbyist forum," and our contributions are meaningless.

I'm not the one who initially stated that a "measuring contest" is happening here. It was mentioned in post #34, so take that up with @buddrousa. Not me. I also keep replying to this thread to point out the facts of this system and county. Ofc everyone thinks they know EXACTLY how Putnam County Operates and is spreading rumors about how they are attempting to "revamp an existing radio system using bandaids and poor ideas" and expecting "someone to carry three radios.". I'm not an expert either, and I don't claim to be one. Im just pointing out the facts here.

Apparently, my opinions in this thread mean nothing because I am nothing but a "scanner enthusiast" and don't know anything. I'm feeling a little singled out here, is all I am saying. Take that to mean however you want, but I am not the only bad guy here. I digress.....

I would suggest a unication. If you need a off duty monitoring option for vfd second item unication g5 would be ideal for you. Specially if you're using VHF hi or low for dispatch use a g5 would be ideal to monitor the TRS side if you're replying on VHF.
