I got a Heathkit SB-221 from an estate sale, mostly as a project to learn with, but I cant get it to turn on.
I've done a lot of testing and everything, but no luck.
-Step-Start board
-Soft-key Board
-new HV rectifier board
-re-soldered some cold/iffy joints
-I've tested capacitance on the filter caps - I get between 458-510uf on each set.
-Ive tested the voltage at different points - 120vac is present on the power switch terminals, but doesnt seem to be making it to the upper half of the amp (transformer issue?)
-No voltage is making it to the upper portion of the amp (lamps, HV rectifier board, etc)
-Ive tested continuity between major points, and the chassis seems to be okay, although I'm not sure how to test the transformer, which Im kind of suspecting is the issue at this point
My thinking is, there's a possible issue with the transformer - but I could use an experienced mind, or if someone is in the area and would check it out, that would be awesome as well.
