Larksdale1 i heard you mention you might want a Unication G5, I live in fountain hills in the hole and only receive the Thompson Peak tower here on my g5's but when i get up on shea and in town, i hear everything on it well. Depending on your location one might work well for you. Also bear in mind that MCSO is a motorola type 2 smartzone system and unication pagers will not receive those systems and im told never will. When unication adds the Phase 2 upgrade and MCSO goes to their new P25 system you will be able to hear them on a g-5.
I just bought a used G1 for here at home to get the local analog fire channels only and probably will be selling one of my g5's for $500. If you might be interested, i can meet up with you in your area and you can actually test drive it to see what you think. You can IM me,,,,bob

AWESOME!! That would be great to actually hands on demo one and see if it works in local Phoenix!

I only want the pager to listen to RWC And topaz system I will keep this whistler **** box for that.

As soon as I got funds in hand I will PM you sir and take you up on that offer. Thanks again!

No problem. Oddly enough, I dug out a BNC adapter and hooked one of the G5's to a loaded mobile antenna clamped to my plastic garbage can and if i open the garage door, the radio gets 2 bars on the A simulcast and the B simulcast and I can hear everthing in downtown phoenix. Let me know if you want one of these 5's,,,,bmaclean at reagan dot com.

You'll get better reception putting that on a metal plate. You could drill a hole in the plate and mount the antenna on it. Cuz of HOA crap here all my antennas are inside, one in the attic and others just in the garage. I have all of them on stainless steel with mag mounts. I can post a few pics of the crazy setup if you like. We are looking to move after the first of the year and the new place will be antenna friendly (I hope)... LOL

The antenna pictured is a pctel maxrad muf7603, kinda spendy at $75 to $100 if you can even find one, but it is built and designed to NOT require a ground plane. I moved it up to the beam over the exterior of the garage door and made the application permanent today and also tried at least 12 different antennas of all 700-800 persuasions and the maxrad was the only one that gives my G5 any reception (2 bars) at all. Again, im sure it is location, location, location as the g5's are location sensitive. As a point of interest, i attached the same antenna to my whistler WS1080 and my BCD436, set to the same site and talkgroups on the rwc system and absolutely nothing. I tried one of those tram kits some time back before i got this antenna and found it to be a joke for my application, and threw it away,,,mac
