I have read all the Unitrunker instructions on how to put an alpha tag on a talkgroup and when I label the talkgroup under where it says group label the alpha tag will stay there then when the same talkgroup pops up again above that talkgroup I have already labeled there is no label. Also it will not display the alpha tag to right of the control channels where is has the talkgroups and user ids pop up. Sorry if this is kinda confusing the way I wrote this but I have been on here for hours trying everything and I can't get it to work. Also if it helps im trunking a Motorola 800 type 2 smartnet system. Thanks

What scanner do you have? A bank group & talk group alpha tag are two different things.
Are you using software?

I have a pro 96 and im not trying to put alpha tags in the scanner because I already have those, im just trying to get them to work on the Unitrunker. As I said when I post the alpha tags under Group label the alpha tag will stay but it will never pop up when someone keys up and the same id I just tagged will pop up with no tag. I don't understand it. It looks something like this.

ID Group Label

832784
833136
834783
832784 PD Dispatch
832784
832765 PD Records
833136 PD Tac 1
834783 Fire Disp

And when someone keys up the radio id and talkgroup will pop up but no alpha tag. Hope that help understand a little better. Thanks

That helps explain your problem much more. I have never used Unitracker, but I'm sure someone will help you out. Good luck.

I thought I figured out a weird way to fix my problem but I didn't. I downloaded the old version of Unitrunker which works fine but seems a little harder to use, then I programmed all the alpha tags and when I was done with that I had to remove the old version and install the new version again, at first I thought everything was working fine but then the talkgroups I had tagged doubled and trippled with no alpha tag and when someone transmits the talkgroup id and user id pop up with no alpha tag. Does anyone know why this isn't working right or has anyone else had this problem using Windows XP? Thanks

There was a bug in the program where - when the user edits the talkgroup label - the group id is saved incorrectly. When the talkgroup appears on a channel - it fails to match the saved group label because the associated ID was mangled. The result is nothing displayed along side the group id. This was (mostly) fixed in the second beta. A work-around is to edit the GID file using Notepad or any text editor. If you see any takgroups in your GID file with ridiculously large group IDs - that's what happened.

I will try this and see if maybe it will work. Thanks
