I got a walkie-talkie from Amazon, and one of them randomly stopped connecting to the others. I even had another one that connected to the walkie-talkie that wouldn’t connect with the rest. I made sure they were both on the same channel and everything. Does anyone have any ideas or advice on how to fix this? Has everyone else had this problem?

As requested, a little (ok a lot) more information on exactly what's going on and what you're trying to do might help us help you.

And while you’re giving us the requested information, please explain clearly what you mean by radios connecting and not connecting. What exactly are you doing?

By the way, welcome to Radio Reference! 😃

If you list the brand and model number of the radios, people may be able to help.
Walk-in Talkie model is K-12

I don’t know how to explain but it is a Topsung Walkie Talkie model K-12.
I definitely not an expert so I don’t know if that answers your question.

It wouldnt happen to be the orange unit that doesn’t work, would it?

Part of a review from Amazon:
Junk.
Had to return them.
The ORANGE one will not work at all when trying to connect to the other two.
The BLUE one will not scan to change the channels.
The GREEN one seems to work…but how useful is ONE walkie??

Purple and read actually.

Sorry purple and red. 😝
Thant just don’t connect with the others they only connect with each other.
But they use to so it’s so weird. 🫤

Is there a way to fix it or are they basically trash?

Towards the end of your last sentence pretty much hit it on the head. Give them to two kids as playthings; they're going to require more effort to fix than the time is worth.

IF (that's a BIG if) these WT's have ctcss tones, you may have to program the correct sub-audible tones into your CCR radio. I haven't looked at the model yet to see if they can even be programmed...
ETA: Looks like they all have to have the same tone (they call it privacy tone) into each radio OR, no tone at all. Good luck!

Ya I almost wonder if somehow the tones weren't on and now they are. We just went thru this with a new ham here confused about PL tones and settings.

I wonder if the channels are on different frequencies from the other radios you're using. You could leave one set on a channel (e.g., 1) and key the other radio on each channel until you find one that matches. For example, channel 1 on the K-12 might be channel 11 on another brand of radios. What is the other radio you're trying to use with the K-12?

That's assuming that it's not a tone issue, as mentioned.

@RadioBoy2025, I have to ask a question about these Topsung K-12 radios. They are 22 channel analog radios that have a bandwidth from 136 MHz to 174 MHz. Has the setup, i.e. the programming, been changed at all since they were received or do they still have the default programming in them? Also, what service are these radios being used on? Thanks in advance for the additional information.

I'll tell you how to fix it...
Haha thanks!
My friend gave it to me so I don’t have an order number.
Are you sure someone hasn't changed something in the settings since they used to work?
Yes.
Thanks for your reply!

How can I find out if I can program the walkie talkies?

so I changed the numbers but I have tried setting both at the same time with the exact same settings and it doesn’t work but before it did. I also tried factory reset but still no clue.

I am trying to connect one walkie talkie to another one from the box.

Thanks for your help!

By connect I guess you mean "talk to and receive"? Also what distance are you trying this at, you might need to be more than a "few" feet apart.
