Going Friday night and should have ask sooner... Not imperative to monitor anything but any comments by 2PM Friday on which system to program before I leave home. No necessarily wanting to hear content but see what they are using down there.....

ALL Savannah area law enforcment including surrounding counties utilize digital transmissions. If you dont have a digital scanner, Liberty county (Hinesville) will be the only law enforcment you'll be able to hear.
Savannah Police, Savannah Chatham Metro Police and Savannah Fire / EMS are almost constantly transmitting, so if your scanner has a feature similar to "SignalStalker" you should have no problem finding something to listen to.

Savannah Scanning Info

Sorry to be late with this, but I work midnights and I didn't check the internet until after I woke up this afternoon. The 700 MHz frequencies richbear203 listed are for the Chatham site of the SEGARREN, a regional radio network. Chatham County and Savannah are still in the process of migrating to that system, but you will still here the most traffic on the Chatham-Effingham TRS: Chatham County/Effingham County Trunking System, Various, Georgia - Scanner Frequencies

The Chatham sites of the Chatham-Effingham TRS have been rebanded in the last two days, the TG info is correct on the RadioReference site but the new rebanded frequencies haven't been confirmed per site yet. Savannah Trip Report!

I am back in Florence after a 24 hour trip to Savannah. I listened to the 700 system and was able to pick out locations near me as I was in White Bluff Plantation off White Bluff Road for a Bible Baptist Playoff game. It was not too busy but I was interested in hearing 700 technology at work. the family we visited recognized all the locations I heard. The data channel I locked on was 772.xx4375....... Enjoyed it and may go back more prepared next time as there may be a next time in December!

Chatham 700 MHz

Most public safety traffic is still on the 800 MHz system. SCMPD is multicast on both systems and Savannah Fire sometimes is (I think Savannah Fire is dependent upon who is affiliating on what system because of the Smart X) multicast on both. For right now you'll hear the most traffic for Chatham and Savannah on the 800 system.

If you get back in December, check out my blog at KF4LMT's Monitoring Post and Blog where I'm trying to keep with the transition to the new system and the rebanding of the 800 system.

Hopefully by Tuesday evening or Wednesday Radio Reference will have the updated frequencies per site for the 800 system.
