One of my 15 year old daughters is interested in a netbook, the primary purpose of which will be for taking notes in school (yep, they're allowed), homework (requires ms office - so needs a decent amount of storage), social networking (facebook, etc), and internet usage. She'll be paying for half of the device herself, with her mom and myself paying for the rest. I'm not a big fan of the format because the screen is just too tiny, in my opinion, and because I hear storeis that they are just plain slow compared to a laptop.
So, before plunking down some cash on one, any advice?
Are there certain processors or brands to stay away from?
Which features are a must have?
Do any come with screens a bit larger than 10.1 inches?
Most advertise their battery life in hours. My guess is they last half to two thirds that long with real-life usage. Is that a valid assumption?
