Folks, please remember, before you sell a hacked radio down the line, you return it (or tell the next owner) the radio to non-hacked state OR tell the new owner (as appropriate) the radio will be 'bricked' if they try to update it through Whistler (incurring another 30+ dollars cost to them in addition to the 'upgrade' to fix/enable the 'Legacy' radio. Or, you can For 70 bucks (unless the price rises), get a legal radio that you can sell without a bad conscience. This goes for anyone who hacked or hacks their hardware, and possibly pass it on to someone who is unaware (of course no-one would with a conscience do such a dastardly thing as sticking someone else with the extra fee unless says something before selling or donating the radio (right?).
Those like me who keep their property forever, should NOT take to heart the above cautionary tale of self monitoring. This is just a reminder of doing the right thing. I have a Legacy upgrade, and YES, I re-converted my illegal upgrade BEFORE sending it into Whistler (yes, absolutely possible, I used the 'go-back' instructions and it works 100%). I tried the upgrade and thought it was WELL WORTH IT. I don't judge, just ask anyone who takes advantage of the 'try it before you buy it' capability, to DO THE RIGHT THING (sad to say but some are incorrigible). Cheers folks!
