How can anyone be sure that a US version of this receiver won't be available in time? It appears to me to be a prototype of something yet to come. Maybe a wait and see approach is best. Alinco sells a lot of amateur radio equipment in the US; perhaps this will develop further and become something viable for the US market...in time.

I like the display and if the frequency coverage was wider, I would seriously consider buying one. Would like to know estimated battery run time and recharging. My Aor 8200 MK3 eats batteries so I don't take it anywhere. Many of our systems here in Western Pa are analog so digital isn't a point with me.

・Estimated usable time: Approx. 9 hours (tentative value) according to the measurement method specified by our company

To be honest it looks like a good fit for amateur radio in that it covers the main DV modes and covers 2/70, plus a bit so it will probably sell reasonably if it's not too expensive.

To me, Alinco has always been like Chrysler or Nissan, a bottom-tier brand trying to appear comparable to better brands, but just coming off cheap and chintzy. This new release fits that ideal perfectly: a new product (in an attempt to appear relevant) that's completely lacking in basic features and falls short of reasonable expectations.

Is this really the best they could come up with? Yeesh.

Josef, because where we live and enjoy the hobby, our Band Plan still includes 75.xxx and 420-520 MHz transmissions. If fact, plenty of it.
So slightly extended frequency will be welcome. Maybe they (Alinco) sell different models to different parts of the world as others have done

OK Chris, now I understand. I hope for your sake that there is a 520 MHz version.

Reading thru the specs, it looks like it will have a membrane keyboard. That's one of my gripes about the SDS100, but maybe it's how they make the unit water resistant ?

I recently obtained a DJ-X11T, which is a very good wideband handheld, but cannot locate anywhere the EDC-174 drop in charger stand, which was not included in the package. HRO, DX Engineering, eBay, no one seems to have it in stock. Is that a supply chain issue from Japan, or is Alinco no longer supplying it to the US market? I need to know Alinco's US marketing intentions before considering a new product.

Is your DJ-X11T a second-hand unit?

The drop-in charger was supplied with my DJ-X11T.

Agree, it's a terrific little wideband receiver.

Purchased from a re-seller, in original box with all standard accessories but not the EDC-174A cable. The charging stand is included when the radio is purchased NIB, and was also commercially available as an optional accessory. I checked with HRO, DX Engineering, Amazon, eBay listings, Gigaparts, etc. and all show it out of stock.
My other question id why can't you use NiMH batteries in the EDH-36 dry cell case, if you are recharging them in a separate battery charge and the radio is not plugged into an AC adapter. what is the damage to the radio if NiMH batteries are used.

You can order one here:

No reason I can discern.
I've used Ni-MH's in the supplied alkaline battery case with my DJ-X11

Thanks for info on NiMH.. R&L also indicates "special order", and does not show it in stock. The charger stand is included in NIB items, so it is in production. It just doesn't seem to be available as an optional accessory. Perhaps Alinco can provide up to date info if I can locate the U.S. distributor or mfr. rep.

Your other option is the classifieds at eham.net, you can place a want-ad for free there.

I managed to get an alkaline battery case for my Yaesu VX-1 by placing an ad at eham.net more than 20 years after that little radio had gone out of production.

Thanks. Could post WTB on eham, RR, QRZ or QTH. Just concerned about scammers who get paid and don't deliver. Perhaps insisting on PayPal might help,

I've bought a bunch of stuff using PayPal and never had any issues with them.

Now the USPS and the item actually showing up is another matter entirely, the main Baltimore USPS sorting office is a black hole for mail, things go in and never come back out...
