It's on the air off and on.. They are working out the kinks. It's going to be a great upgrade for those folks when it's all ironed out. Better coverage, more "channels" for comms, and faster response time for the boys in blue, brown and yellow.. Lots of logistics to work out to make sure it's used efficiently.

I see, a better, more complex system. Thanks for the update, I am counting down the days till I move.

I'm going to need some instruction on setting up my 396 once they go full digital for the audio feed. Seems like a simulcast on 154.725 and 155.640 (digital P25). Not sure how to setup talk groups. Wonder how long they will broadcast on the analog 154.725?

154.725 is patched to the PD's trunking talk group at this time. The digital frequencies vary with the needs of the system.

I'd imagine they would leave the patch up for a year or so.

Thanks for the info batwingtech! I have a USB cable on order for my 396. I need to do a firmware update since I've rarely used it in the few years I have owned it. Hopefully I will have the control channel freqs and better understand trunking and digital. I have been a HAM and scanner enthusiast for about 20 years, but this new technology has a bit of a learning curve.

So far scanning the P-25 system I have heard ID:3, not sure of the agency. BPD did pop on an ID but can't remember the ID. It was in the 5000's. I'll keep you all posted on my findings. Hopefully they keep the patch in place for awhile because that is what is keeping my live audio feed up at this time.

bdar15 your correct. Looks like the Gallatin area will be in the 5000's. TG: 3 is Lewis & Clark co Sherriff.
I'm also on the learning curve too as I've only heard Idaho's system for a weekend, and Madison Wis. analog system before moving to Montana.

They have made the change, alright. Well, please update the DB or share it here as more on the system comes out. Thanks, each day brings me closer to Bozeman.

Waiting for a positive confermation on the TG. On Monday 6/20/11, around 1pm dispatch gave the"taking down the analog repeater, but I haven't logged a TG since then. Still digital voice format in the clear on 154.725.

Bozeman PD dispatch is 5045. They did take their analog repeater down on the 20th for maintenance. The repeater is back on the air, and the patch will remain in place for quite a while.

The Sheriffs Office in Gallatin County is 5065. They are patched as well, but they are still running on analog for the time being.
