Windows 10 both 64 and 32 bit versions seem to crash if I play with the range slider especially moving it all way left. In one instance left it on overnight, seemed to be running ok, but would not decode dmr; no audio output. Closing and restarting it worked. Only two issues so far. I like! A nice lightweight DMR decoding solution.

Hi all

I downloaded version 1.7 and the x86 version (windows 10) launches and receives with no issue apart from no audio on FM or DMR (adsb decodes okay). I tried every audio output option in the drop-down menu with no success - however the audio recording feature works... any ideas?

Thank you

<version 1.6 is working fine>

Hello
there is two settings for check if you see v-traffic and there is no sound:
at first select audio device on windows sound that you use it for listening
then run program and select suitable output device on Output section on openear to get sound
this is about that on version 1.7.0 selecting of output handled by user and then software dose not select default output device

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have checked default playback device and have it selected in openear - still no audio. I also tried ver 1.7 on Windows 7 with same result.

Any further suggestions? Thank you.

you're welcome
please on windows sound settings , select default device that you listen to it for normal windows works, for example in my laptop's it names is speaker and i set it to default device playback
then try to run openear and then try to decode signal and change the output options to get sound, maybe there are multi outputs.
it is better that check all them one by one for hearing sound
sorry, i know description maybe easy and you did this before but That's all the user has to do for listening to sound

also you can try to record voice by openear, after that check that recorded file is playable and you can hear the recorded voice
if recorded file is correct then i think problem is bad selecting of default playback on windows and output selected on openear

Hello Moneriom,

Great Work, thank you for the new version , voice is better than any other decoder for tetra and also the DMR .

i only had one issue of picking the suitable audio output in version 1.7 , no voice was coming , until i selected output via the virtual cable , and that worked very well. i don not know how , but that was it.

Hello
you're welcome
on version 1.7.0 there is more selection for user to output audio
it is all dependent to your windows sound settings
the openear only creates path for input and output
in version 1.6.0 there is no option to select input or output then maybe easier task for user
on v1.6.0 only needs user runs program and then program chooses default output device to send audio output
but in version 1.7.0 it dependent on windows sound settings also user must check that if input is audio
then sound settings dose not prevent from mixing of output voice and input voice led to corrupted decoding

I can now hear audio by choosing a virtual cable which is odd but it works. Dmr, tetra and adsb all okay. Just to test nxdn next. May get an opportunity to test pocsag this evening.

Thank you.

One of the possibility of the program is to play I/Q recorded files but the supported symbol rate is only 1024000.

Do you know what program can be used to record files with such symbol rate ?
I've tried several options with SDR Sharp but seems not working

thanks

at first sorry for my bad usage of symbol-rate word on openear message, i must correct it to Sample-rate ;)
RTL_USB supports this sample rate, if you use rtl-usb i think you can use this sample rate, but for other hardware i don't know
in next releases i try to support more sample-rates
anyway in current version you can use matlab software to resample to desired sample rate, but i think this is heavy task
and apart of wave file, did you try to save fm demodulated of desired signal with sdrsharp and then play it and use audio input of openear?

Thanks for your feedback.

to record the baseband wav file I'm using sdf sharp with rtl-sdr v3 and "recording" plugin program
I can select some sample rate ( 8 bit pcm, 16 bit pcm and 32bit iee float) .
reco.PNG
To playback with openear I'm selecting I/Q wav option
Maybe is not the right procedure ......

Just installed OpenEar 1.7 yesterday - and have a couple of issues.
1. Running on a Surface Pro - with a high resolution screen - user interface is seriously distorted. I managed to fix it mostly with a compatibility setting. I am running at 200% enlargement - required to read anything on this screen.
2. No sound so far - but then having VBCable installed -and having fiddled around a lot with all the confusing Windows 10 sound settings - that may be my fault. SDR# outputs sound to the speakers no problem though.

Also had issues making my cheap RTL-SDR dongle work properly - piping from SDR# and using AirSpy at least gave me visible signals in OpenEar - but so far no decoded sound.

POCSAG did decode text - so input should be OK.

I am very excited about this application - appears so much easier to use and more promising than DSD+ Fastlane - which I really struggle with.

Tried with a NooElec dongle - using OpenEar as the receiver.

Gettign zero signal in the display. Gain slider is stuck - when I attempt to move it - it changes value to -1 - and I can not drag it to the right.
