The thief is at it again

Members are advised that the forum hyperlinked above contains a significant amount of material stolen wholesale (cut and paste) from other sources (i.e.: www.n2nov.net and the Long Island Area Scanning Resources boards). You're better off sticking with the originals and not getting involved in this mess.

Let the people from whom the material was stolen, if in fact it was, worry about that, and let us decide on our own whether or not we chose to "get involved" on the new site. We're all adults and are capable of making our own decisions.

What happened to the LIASR board? If in fact, the site is gone for good, then why not utilize this new Forum discussed above? Just because it happens to use the same exact front-end as LIASR, doesn't necessarily mean that it was "stolen." Yes, it is very similar in deed, but if Mr. Fordyce's site is gone for good, then again, why not use it as a resource? The data isn't stolen...it is all public information (for the most part). Let the users decide

I'm guessing pure coincidence. Jim mentioned upgrading his servers a while back.

I just received this on the ScanCom email list.

I sent an e-mail to Jim and he replied that the site was down and he hoped to have it up in a few days.

Between this site and LISR, I don't personally see a need for another message board. Which is exactly the reason I didn't put one on my own site. How many different places are we supposed to post the same information?

Between Jim and Lindsay, everything is pretty much covered. I like Jim's message boards, and the database setup that Lindsay has here.

What would this new board supply that Jim and Lindsay don't already offer?

In reference to SCANdal's statement that the link www.n2nov.net was stolen from other sources or from LISR, he is mistaken. That is the link for John Buricelli's N.J. State PDF File. Mr. Buricelli created that file and he, himself, posted the link on Tri State Scanning. So it was in no way stolen from "other sources" or from LISR. It appears that SCANdal is attempting to create a scandal, based on false informatioon.

Let's try this again...

Gentlemen,

In terms of radio related information, the forum posted at the very top of this thread consists mainly of material that was lifted unchanged (called "cut and paste") from other boards - including www.n2nov.net. 'NOV is a fine source of information. Check for yourself; much of the information is one and the same...update dates, formats, errors and all. In fact, let me make it easy for those who doubt me. Compare one sample
http://tristatescaning.proboards37....orkCity&action=display&num=1106531623 with the original at http://www.n2nov.net/nypdabbr.html and you tell me.... I could care less about the look of a board. It the data that matters.

My original point remains the same...if one is looking for a new source of information, the new forum mentioned above isn't it. The new forum simply lifted stuff from other already established (and better overall) sources.

PS to JMR3685,
You are right. There is only so much info out there. Which begs the question...why re-invent the wheel? At the very least give credit to the sites the material was stolen from.

The info was NOT stolen. There is no possible way for it to be stolen. IT IS PUBLIC INFORMATION. NOBODY HAS A PATENT ON THAT INFO! It's the same info yes, but in a different FORMAT. Who knows? Maybe the site will be better than any of the other sites!

There are only so many places people are going to be willing to post the same information, and answer the same questions.

There are already two established boards with the basic information already in place.

I'm going to refer back to my original and as yet unanswered question above.

What would this new board supply that Jim (LISR) and Lindsay(RR) don't already offer?

There is, currently, a lot of moderator work going on, at the request of Jim Fordyce, to clean up existing data and transfer it to a new, improved, and even easier to use format then before. This board is not quite ready for general access (Not Ready For Prime Time). As a participating member in RR.com, LISR, and the new Tri-State, I am quite happy with the long-standing boards and, while I may not choose to be very active on this new board, I do wish them well. My limited needs are being fulfilled quite nicely.
