I am new to the hobby and my callsign is KF0ZIL. I live in Aurora, Nebraska; finding the Aurora repeater was easy because there is only one.

What are the most commonly used repeaters in the Grand Island, Nebraska area? I just got my call sign in early August and have only made one contact.

Right now I have the Centennial Towers, GI EOC, and the Heartland Events Center. Are these a three that everybody uses or am I missing out?

I have looked up and know what repeaters there are, but I was looking to find out which ones are the most used by locals. For lack of better terms the Grand Island repeater equivalent of the national calling frequency.

Welcome to the hobby.

You may try 146.820 in Heartwell, 147.270 in York, and145.130 in Hastings. I think there is one in Wood River on 145.295 but it may off air last I saw.

If Grand Island is like Omaha, the repeaters are pretty quiet most times. You may try 146.520 simplex since you are close to I80 and other main highways.

What type of radio do you have?
