So I live in New York State and my local 911 dispatch (Putnam County) is converting to 700mhz across the board FD and PD dispatch
I know I have to get a new scanner (SDS-100) but When I look at upgrade options on Scanner Master website I really don't know which are Truly necessary
I do Travel in NY / NJ / PA / CT / NM / and New England states
Is it just safe to purchase all upgrades so I wont have to send it back in if I go another area requiring a certain upgrade
I have 3 BCT-15X's New in Box I wish could be upgraded to receive 700mhz
Any info would be greatly appreciated

None of the paid upgrades are necessary if P25 (I or II) is your main focus. Consult the database for everything else. Take note of system type. If any DMR/MotoTRBO, NXDN/IDAS (or lesser so ProVoice) are of any interest to you then invest in those upgrades. Don't buy the upgrades from Scanner Master though, they mark up the price considerably. Buy the upgrades direct from Uniden after you buy the scanner instead.

Unless you intend on monitoring any of the following systems, don't bother purchasing ProVoice. I know at least one of them is slated for future replacement

Scanner does p25 phase 1 & 2 right out of the box. No upgrade needed. Go in the database for the areas you travel and see what’s of interest to you. If all p25 than you don’t need any. If any nxdn or dmr that interests you, then you would need the upgrade.

If you do buy upgrades, they are the cheapest from uniden. Avoid zip scanners at all costs.

Upgrades can be added at any time. Scanner does not need to be sent in. You register on My Uniden and purchase it. They send you a key. You input it into the scanner.

As an addendum to this, only the talkgroups in the aforementioned systems ID'ed as mode "D" are ProVoice. As you'll see in the "Voice" column, only 2 of the identified 20 systems are "ProVoice Exclusive" (meaning no analog talkgroups). The remaining 18 are a mix of ProVoice (mode "D") and analog (mode "A") with a smattering of mix analog/PV (mode "M") talkgroups here & there. Therefore without the PV upgrade installed you'll only be able to hear the analog talkgroups/transmissions on these systems "out of the box". Peruse them at will to further sway your decision

Have a quick question, where should I buy the SDS-100 ?

Have checked a few sites and Uniden direct purchase gives me the lowest price. They give a 1st responders discount

I thought they had a extended warranty option but can't seem to find that option on their website

There's another thread currently active with several recommendations on where to buy from.
