New Raleigh PD frequency?

I have an old RS Pro-2028 and was going to upgrade to a RS Pro-95 because I heard that the Raleigh system was going to a 800 mhz truncked system. As I was talking to the salesman, he informed me that the RPD was indeed going to a truncked system but also will be using the new digital APCO 25 system.

Please let me know of this is the case and when this conversion might occur. This would require me to go to the RS Pro-96 to receive their transmission. I would rather buy the digital system now, then buy a radio that would be obsolete in the near future.

Raleigh PD is not going trunking (digital or otherwise) anytime soon. Wake Sheriff and most of the smaller agencies in Wake County are already on the trunking system, however. I know Fuquay and Wake SO are digital. Not sure about the other agencies. Garner is still in the process of converting.

But, your salesman didn't know what he was talking about regarding RPD...
