I am new to scanning and purchased a Uniden BC92XLT. I am interested in scanning air frequencies. I am near Burbank, CA.
I have many of the frequencies used for the airports in my area, but never hear anything. Can anyone help? Thanks

Are you using an outside antenna? If not, this may be the culprit. You can get local freqs from airnav.com . Take the radio outside and see if you get different results. I can't pickup aviation at all inside my house with a handheld.

You're not hearing anything at all? Burbank's transmitters are very good. You should hear everything no problem. Try 118.7 tower, 123.9 ground, 118.0 clearance. There's also 123.025 for helicopter common in the area. Make sure it's on AM mode. Unless you're down in a hole up in Newhall or something.

Hey Love

Have you tried to first use the search option and search the aviation band for starters? This band is VERY VERY VERY busy so I surprised nothing is coming in for you.

much love
