Good day
I hope this is the correct forum for this if not one of the Moderators can let me know and move it on
I live in the Muskoka area my BCD996T Trunk Tracker IV after 11 years of almost constantly being on is no more the smoke came out and I can't get it back in.
So I'm looking for a new scanner and want input from scanner owners first of all I can't pick up the Port Sydney tower UHF well I can hear it if I turn the squelch off its right in with the noise I blame a large rock ridge that runs through. Muskoka vhf from that tower is strength 3. I can pick up Edgar Fleetnet tower strength 5 constantly. The rest of Muskoka is great reception any thing to the South is great reception. I'm keeping in mind that fleetnet is probably going full ENC. by next year.
I see a set of UHF bays on the tower at the end of Taylor road by the Bracebridge dump I have never had a hit from the site even sitting at the road side with the scanner about 100 feet from the tower.
Sorry I'm getting off topic so what would people recommend or not recommend for a scanner to pick up the last analog, p25 and any sites that use new forms of transmissions without ENC. I also have two dongles and use DSD + works great but same results with reception. Although it can pick up different forms of new transmissions.
Antenna mounted 35 feet on a tower using some cell phone tower heliax about 1/2 inch or a little larger that a tower installer gave me when I was watching them install the antennas at a site.
This is a one time purchase as I'm on CPP disability with a supplement, so if I don't get it right the first time there's no second chance.
Thank you to all that have any input
