It looks like some more changes in Niagara. Talk Wireless now has fairly busy DMR CAP+ site on Fonthill. I believe they used to have an old LTR system there and these are probably most of the same frequencies. Details submitted to database.

I have a 436 scanner and I set it up as MOTOTRBO TRUNK, I think this is right????. But I see I need the LCN,S, so I think I am doing something wrong.

Talk Wireless,
On one of the long tg 2097367 my 436 scanner flashes XPT IN THE DIGITAL STATUS column. Are these long tg's private calls?

I have been listening for the whole day and I am not getting a good signal down in Fort Erie, I am not even getting one bar on my signal meter with the Uniden 436 Scanner. All the Talkgroups in this list are active, but the audio is too broken up to figure out who some of the Talkgroups belong to.

Are we sure this isnt part of the current Talk Wireless Niagara System and just an additional site? Just saw 204 (ENC) pop up on there. its also showing Tier III on my end. Unless its bleed over from FleetConnect, Federal, or ET.

Do you know what site, frequency, etc. the talkgroup 204 popped up on? Because This system is coming up as a CAP+ frequency for me here in Niagara Falls.

I am confused about some information regarding this system as it doesn't make any sense. As someone who owns a MotoTBRO Capacity Plus system, I can confirm that the talkgroup IDs can only be from 1 to 254 (255 is the cap+ all call). This is standard for both single and multisite.

Next, I am seeing talkgroups of "65539" which are way above 255, and also way out of range of the Radio ID numbers as well. The Radio IDs can only be from 1 to 65535. See the screenshots below from the MotoTRBO CPS.

I have a strange feeling there's two systems getting mixed here.Screenshot 2024-01-27 033016.pngScreenshot 2024-01-27 033210.png

I can't recall, but perhaps both systems are connected...

This has been going on for well over a year and a half. Look at my post....two systems using the same frequencies....all the talk groups that were on Federal Wireless have move too this system...taxi, water delivery, waste disposal etc.

I did a side by side comparison of talkgroups and since I see no duplicate talkgroups, I've imported the Fonthill site and talkgroups into one sytem now: Talk Wireless Trunking System, Niagara Falls, Fonthill, Ontario

Here is the discussion from Nov. 2022 Two systems using the same frequency?

That might not have been a great idea. Each capacity plus system can consist of 254 talkgroups. If they do start to link talkgroups, you're going to have to separate the systems again as the data won't be accurate. As an example of what I mean (based on previous posts here):

DECModeAlpha TagDescriptionTag
204TEEncryptedEncryptedUnidentified
204TTaxiTaxiTransportation

We can't confirm nor deny that the two "204" talkgroups are separate. However, the unencrypted traffic has been identified as a "Taxi" service. I don't personally believe that someone would be using half encryption, half clear call. From someone who does comms for living, I can speak that the company I work for simply creates one codeplug and then duplicates it into each radio with a separate ID.

This has been going on for well over a year and a half. Look at my post....two systems using the same frequencies....all the talk groups that were on Federal Wireless have move too this system...taxi, water delivery, waste disposal etc.

I do agree with you. I haven't gone too in depth to search for these said frequencies, and monitor what's going on. But what I can say is this... any talkgroup above 254 is not part of the said Capacity Plus system. This could be Tier III or the deprecated Connect Plus, I am not sure. As I mentioned before a Capacity Plus system is only capable of 254 programmable talkgroups; 255 if you want to count the "All Call" talkgroup, which I doubt they would be using often. Simply because on Capacity plus, one "All Call" goes to the entire system. There would be no way to separate the "Niagara Parks Commission" from say the "Hilton Hotel."

I'm here a lot
We will see how this plays out.
I have the separated the Talk Wireless - Fonthill site sitting in the deprecated directory. A few mouse clicks can restore it to the main listing once again, and a couple of more can remove if from the current system.

Sounds good.

Well, now that you put it this way, it makes sense. I wasn't really paying attention that there needed to be some conversions going on. I can confirm that some of those talkgroups are consistent with what I have seen on the 'Hilton Hotel' site.
