I have a PSR-500 which I loooove. I tried to get my friend to get one as a gift for his mom for Christmas but they were out and sent him this 396. He's asked me to program it for him, which is kind of neat because I get to try out the scanner I almost bought instead of my 500. I've never even seen a 396 till now and forgot all the stuff I read in the research since I've had my PSR-500 3 years. I have a very good understanding of my scanner and how Gre thinks, so I've run into a few things which I've had to re-learn with the Uniden. Figured most of them out except this one (two ;)):

Is there a way to access the few Conv channels I programmed (IE to disable them using the keypad) more easily? Right now I have our trunk system programmed, and it seems like the scanner displays it for 4 seconds, then spends 2 10ths of a sec on the Conventional stuff before going back to the trunk system. Ive run into the issue of not being able to disable the Conv freq list unless I've very quick hitting Func. + the number associate with it.

Second, is there a way around having to hit the Function key to disable and enable scan lists/groups?

Here's a pic of my setup if it helps TMRS is our trunk system, and the Conv stuff is where I put my conventional frequencies. I don't see a way to combing the two, thus the switching back and forth before I get a chance to lock out the Conv stuff above. At the very bottom are the CCs I set up:

Thanks in advance for any help.

Edit: One more thing - is there a way to choose how choosy the scanner is with regards to sites/CCs? It switched towers tonight but it doesn't look like the Uniden has threshold settings etc like my Gre, it appears to just always be in Roam mode without a way to adjust it or set it to just one site (short of only programming one tower).

I guess that's 3 questions, hope I'm not pushing my luck.

Well, being that this is the GRE forum and not the Uniden forum:confused: Don't you think a better answer would be found there? Or maybe in the software/programming forum?

Did I really post that here. Ugh sorry. I must have loaded RR from my bookmarks (which take me right to the Gre section) and posted it. I was reading the Uniden section and thought I was there. Too many tabs open at once while programming, I think. :)

Mods, if it's the custom thing to do, please delete this thread when you can, thanks.
