Im located in Santa Ana/Tustin Area of Orange County. Interested in Picking up Orange County Fire, Chp, and other interesting frequencies in my area. I have a Radio Shack Pro-94 with Dual trunking. All info would be greatly apperciated.

CHP Freqs for OC
39.720 - Westminster
39.440 - Santa Ana
39.360 - San Juan Capistrano

You can probably pick up the LA CHP's as well - search the 42 Mhz band for those.

Fire is on the OC trunked system.

Unfortunately all law enforcement channels in Orange County are digital and encrypted except for the RED talkgroup (50720) but the PRO-94 will not do you any good for that.

I would recommend searching the 482-484 range for LA Sheriff and probably the 154-156 range for other law enforcement and fire channels.
Another good freq to have plugged in is 154.830 - LAPD Hotshots which is always busy.

One more thing to add: The RR database does not reference which Talkgroups go with which cell. Most of the fire TG's are on the countywide cell, the exception being Santa Ana and Costa Mesa FD's, which are on the south cell.

brandon,

Sweet, thanks for the info. The database is not very clear on the specifics. Kudos to you for a straight to the point and simple answer =)
