BCD436HP/BCD536HP: New Trunk-System

Got a new local government trunk-system coming on line for testing. The new system is a Harris P25 Phase II 5 site site system. What is the best way to set the BCD436HP up to monitor the system and record new talk-groups.

Also in using IDTracker III.

I have not been able to get I'd tracker 3 to work with that radio. It's also not on the supported radios list on the I'd tracker site.

I would use discovery mode on the 436. Set the options in the discovery mode options to your preferences .

I would just set up a new Favorites List, add the control channel(s), then use ID SEARCH and RECORD to find any new TGs. Discovery would work, too, but this way you can still scan other things.

The Discovery option is very interesting, but the problem I see is that I will be close to one of the P25 sites and the EDACS site. I would only want ot Discover the P25 site.

Only select the P25 site for Discovery (actually, that "site" will have to be entered as a system entirely separate from the EDAC system, since you cannot mix two different kinds of systems in one).

Bad news is that I have not done anything on the my 436 in months, so how do I enter the P25 as a system entirely and just scan that system?

You'll have to make a Favorites List, create a P25 system in that favorites list, create a site in that system with the P25 tower frequencies (this assumes that the system is not yet in the database at all).
