SDS150: New Uniden Scanner announcement at SEMA 2025

I had no problem installing the new version of Sentinel. I will mention that there maybe a prompt to install .NET 2.0. If you get this, cancel the install and go over to Settings -> System -> Optional features. You need to turn on .NET Framework 3.5 (this includes .NET 2.0). Then do the install.

I noticed the GPS has great sensitivity. I was able to get a fix in a wooden frame building. It also set the time on the scanner.

I saw today doing a Access Control Service Call. I had a PC Client Program that you click the Icon it would bring up the login screen you inter info and it would open then close. Worked with support found a MS Update broke a link in dot net 2.0 We had to do a total reinstall a repair did not fix it.

Based on the comments I've been reading, I'm leaning closer towards ordering one for myself. Now I just need to figure out what to do with my BCD 436 and SDS 100! :D

There's no difference between analog and digital mode. It is the same hardware and software used in both modes but in analog you are listening to the actual signal and in digital you only hear what the digital processor are giving you after it has decoded the data stream and will mask any anomalies that you heard in analog mode, but they will still be there and not magically disappear.

I think it was abundantly clear from the get-go that the quickest arrival of these in the hands of the consumer would come directly from Uniden, and authorized dealers would follow thereafter.

That being said, this is the first time I've seen us offer a pre-order in my time working for the company. Seems this is working as we're well into the second phase of pre-orders.

As I've stated, from a hobbyist standpoint I understand where you're coming from, but in many cases that's not the way it works. Many of those that need support are willing to wait for it.

Your comments are certainly valid. The landscape of purchasing Uniden scanners at retail for the end-level user has certainly changed over the years.

I purchased my SDS100 back in June 2018 when they were first introduced. At that time Uniden was not selling their newly-introduced scanner at retail directly to the end-level user but was instead supplying their well-established dealers with initial inventory. Some of the names that come to mind from that era are The Ham Station, Universal Radio, Scanner Master and Bearcat Warehouse. I also recall Paul (UPMan) stating at the time that they would not be supplying inventory to Amazon initially because they wanted to support their established dealers with the new scanner release.

Today things are much different with Uniden aggressively selling and advertising directly to retail. Because they are "Uniden" they will of course get their own inventory before anybody else and will therefore be able to ship to retail customers first. It takes a little extra time for Uniden to get new inventory to their distributors who then send it to the dealers.

With pricing for the SDS150 being the same everywhere right now at $949.99, it comes down to a personal decision as to who you want to support with your business. I'm sure some of those decisions will be based on your own past personal experiences with previous scanner purchases including the level of support received (if needed) after the sale.

Which is why the SDS100 also has trouble with digital at times even when it is not a weak signal. Crap into the digital processor either means no decode or one full of errors with distorted audio. Me saying it does a fine job with digital may be too generous at times. Not often, but in some locations my BCD325P2 decodes traffic the SDS100 does not. Sometimes BER is too high in some locations. I stopped trying to play with the SDS100 filters. You cannot usually know where in the 10 Mhz passband the interference is and sometimes its everywhere. If very near some cell towers the SDS100 is deaf.

I sure hope the SDS150 has fixed these issues. Early indications suggest they have been. User reports are very valuable right now.

It used to be that manufacturers would not "undercut the retail channel" by selling direct to the public. Especially frowned upon was doing that and selling at a lower price. These days that would include selling to Amazon as they would likely market product at a lower price.

If/when I buy, it will be from a retailer with good support. As we've seen over the past few years support at Uniden is uneven.

I hear you, but I don't think there is a retailer who can give better support than what is available here on RR. I would shop purely on price and/or speed of delivery.

I'm not holding my breath. The SDS200 is already a very good receiver, and most of the improvements can be done with firmware.

There hasn't been any mention of a SDS250, but there also hasn't been a denial. ;) I'm going to hold off on the SDS150 for a bit and see if there is any information on that.

If they do update the firmware adding U/Aware would be nice although it would likely require a wired connection. Unless they can figure out how to get a Bluetooth dongle to work.

If there were not an SDS250, it would be quite a surprise. It is a logical progression unless the SDS150 bombs, which is doubtful.
