Last NYE, the Vegas Area Radio Geek Alerting Network Social Affairs Committee hosted a private NYE party at a major casino-resort mid-Strip, and found time to partake in some brief acts of radio geekery while otherwise totally-engaged in wanton, unadulterated debauchery. The VARGAN PIO has stated that I can share that the Command channel used by the Fireworks by Gruden people was 469.5375MHz (UHF BRS 55). This was the channel all their fireworks site managers coordinated activity on -- each fireworks site also had a separate channel for their own operations. Since these guys are on the roofs of major properties, the signals were pretty easy to hear, all over the Vegas area.

The Gruden channels were the best ones to monitor, while CCFD & LVFD Fire Marshals Office SNACC Talk Groups were also of some interest. Sometimes the FLEAS are a little active on VHF repeaters & simplex for NYE, other years, they seem active only on the LVMPD system, Firstnet and ATAK/TAK. As the NSRS is about to migrate to P25/II, this may be the last NYE to hear the NVARNG MPs on their NSRS talk groups (probably will be activated & on them for the SuperBowl).

Fremont Street Experience Security (464.100 DMR CC7) & LV City Marshals (Primary & tactical TGs on SNACC) can also be fun to eavesdrop on the mayhem, as-well as most hotel/casino channels, and then Clarl County DPW on 154.100MHz (& some SNACC TGs) as they remove barricades & clean-up Las Vegas Blvd.

The RTC talk groups (public transportation) talk groups on SNACC are *always* entertaining/depressing/disgusting to monitor, but the poor drivers are even closer to the brink of insanity dealing with the NYE messes (pun-intended).
