License slips through the cracks!

EXHIBIT FOR FORM 601 MAIN PAGE 3a & 3b
11-17-11
The City of Newark Fire Department is requesting an STA to allow continued operation of radio facilities listed in this FCC form 601. The City of Newark Fire Department had FCC license call sign KEC989 for these frequencies; however it inadvertently expired 8/12/11 and was just discovered. The individual responsible for handling FCC Licensing had retired and the renewal of this call sign slipped through the cracks.
The City of Newark Fire Department is currently in the process of securing a permanent FCC license to replace the expired one. The grant of this STA relates to a critical need for vital Public Safety Communications with regard to Fire Fighting and Fire Dispatch operations. The commissions rule section 1.931 provides that the commission may authorize an STA to continue communications services. The grant of this request to continue operation of these radio services is critical and in the public interest.
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Huh? WPZB686 doesn't expire for 2 full years. What they really need to worry about with WPZB686 is getting the emissions designator changed to narrowband by the end of next year.

That bill is going nowhere fast. One sponsor, no co-sponsors, barely a full paragraph of text, etc.
