I'm hearing one of the Newark PD channels (Channel 6, with "Echo" units being called) on Newark Fire Channel 4, TG#4211. Audio is a bit distorted from some of the field units and also with a fair amount of echo, even on my SDS-100. Is Newark PD moving up to NJICS?

Sounds like a patch for the unified command ops for MTV video music awards in Newark today. I heard the EOC on the air today in reference to that.

This all in preparation for the MTV Video Music Awards being hosted in Newark, NJ This evening.
The are using patch(s) to both NJICS and more notably UHF NJUTAC45 470.08750 173.8 PL being used for event operations.

Newark PD to NJICS. I thought Essex county was building out their own digital network. But I don't know.

Newark is still a few years out on building their own P25 800 MHz system. As for the County, their 2 channel 800 MHz P25 System, Only one talk group so far, patch from from UHF Co Fire Mutual Aid channel. Both then are works in progress.
As for today's and tonight's special event its frequencies from NNJ 8TAC96 and UASI NE Region NJUTAC45 etc
I would also check various inter op talk groups on NJICS and NJ800 STPD Trunk Systems for addition activity as well as all UTAC & ITAC frequencies. Also note some of traffic on 8TAC and UTAC frequencies may be P25 encrypted.

NJSP was in the area of Penn Station before operating on B2-8 around 5pm. I would assume it is all related.

I listened to the UTAC-45 patch instead; that was some interesting listening last night! Nonstop action until about 10pm. I'm not sure what time they killed the NFD-4 patch but it was down after I finished supper. I-TAC 6 was weaker to my location in West Caldwell than UTAC-45. Didn't hear anything on TG 4415 when I had it up so I put the radio back on scan.
