While MOTOROLA ceased manufacturing the HT1000 portable radio in May of 2005, they will continue to support it for some time.

Two different authorized MOTOROLA sales representatives informed me that you can expect another 4 - 5 years of support from MOTOROLA for the HT1000. I was informed that, generally, MOTOROLA will support a discontinued product for another 5 years or so after its discontinuation date. The availability of parts may exist even thereafter.

My department uses the HT1000 and we are looking to replace them with the HT1250s. The HT1000's discontinuation is the primary reason why their replacement is being proposed now. But the fact of the matter is we could easily get a couple of more years out of them.

Sorry to hear that. No matter how many revisions they'll go thru that's still a POS radio. Try to have them switch to the PR1500 or MT1500. Much, much better radios.
