G'day,
Hi to everyone. Didn't know where to post this, so I figured I would post it here.
First off, I am a total newb and have NO ham equipment nor experience. I've been interested for years, but never really could afford to get into it cause I always thought it was WAY above my paygrade. Well, I feel it's about time since I see there is SO much new stuff for the beginner and with reasonable prices. I did CB back in the 90s and loved it. I had a chance to see a ham radio in action during that time and I thought it was cool as all get out.
As I get older and the body rejects more and more physical activities, hobbies like ham have been appearing more n more in the forefront of my lil brain.
Obviously, I need to get a license, but 1 problem... I can't find any VECs nearby. Like within even 4 hours. What am I supposed to do?

I will most definitely have more questions down the road and I'm betting there will be lots of facepalms from the EOEs. LOL.

TIA.

Check for VECs that will proctor you online - it started during COVID, and I understand that some VECs are still doing so - especially for remote individuals (such as yourself.)

Since you can obviously get online, that would be an option for you. I'm assuming you have a webcam of some variety, a mike, and speakers?

I need to get webcam & mic.

weird ?... one of the sites that does online tests said that loud noises can cancel the test. what is the limit? I live right outside a military base and when the jets take off, it can literally shake the house. I don't have a schedule of flights so WTF am I supposed to do? Keep trying to take the exam and HOPE no jets take off or do patterns?

Welcome to the forums! I'm a newb as well, but I've already found a lot of great info on this forum.
