A few things. First, do you really need a handheld? You say you have a discone and runs to an office, might be better if you got an sds200 or bcd996p2. In my opinion the displays are much easier to read and buttons easier to use etc if you do not need portability.
I owned a 325 and it was a great radio with the drawbacks stated by others. Also as stated, if you have the money get the sds100 or sds200.
I will probably be criticized for this, but an option we should be mentioning to anyone considering a new scanner are the multiple on line scanner feeds (broadcastify, openmhz, etc). for those not wanting to either spend the money or fairly large amount of time setting up today’s type of scanner especially if a feed does an adequate job for the area involved. And, as an example, if some of listening is dmr, there are reasonably price ham radio radios that do dmr and combined with feeds could provide good coverage at low price. I know this does not cover p25 etc but again just another option. Yes, I know of the drawbacks, but the feeds are less frustrating for some. I use them all the time along wth my radios.
Again, some people just want to hear the action and not devote time to radios. Some like playing with radios and many love both hearing and playing.

Another thing to consider about choosing the feeds is that, if you are mainly interested only in public service listening, you won't lose a large amount if your system goes encrypted in the future.
