I just got word back from the seller. He claims that all electronic goods on ebay are sold "as is". Is that true? He says that he used it in CO and was able to get local freqs.

Just because it was sold on evilbid, does not mean it is sold as is, unless the seller list's as is then it cannot be sold as is. Although, most people buying used electronics on ebay consider the deal "as is" unless otherwise stated. You have an argument if the seller did not list it AS IS.

It sounds like your radio needs an alignment. There are several companies on the internet you can send it to.

http://www.radiolabs.com/repair/radiorepair.html
http://www.iinc.com/ggcomm/

and there may be others. Depending on how much you paid for it, it may or may not be worth it.

I have found it is not usually a good idea to buy used electronics on evilbay. Good Luck.

Problem Solved

Thanks all who helped figure this dilema out. I decided to head many user's advice and get the RS Pro95. It was the last one on the shelf and already came pre-programmed w/ all the freqs that I needed.

My only problem now is learning how I WOULD have done it had it been blanked out.

So now my question is after plugging in the Control Channels in, how does one come up with the talk group lists? Also, when scanning it keeps stopping on the CC signal. How would I keep it from doing that?

Good decision.

Didn't you get a manual? Also you might want to get this outstanding free software Win95 and this cable or 20-289 from RS.

Edit: Step through each freq and make sure the display indicates MO iin the upper right corner of line 1, if any do not press MODE until it does. Also, press PGM>TRUNK and verify that liine three indicates Motorola, if not press MODE until it does.

BTW, I sent you a PM yesterday regarding your Ebay transaction. It's still in my outbox.

So now that you have a working scanner, is the 235 defective?

It may not be 'defective' but it certainly needs to be tuned, and since that was not disclosed in the ebay description, it is worth getting my money back.

JD a Buckskinner33 in Wichita is on these pages and has been working on keeping the Wichita page up to date. Look through the Kansas pages in this forum, you may get some good tidbits from his postings. You're in a fine city (go Shockers) with a good scanner, enjoy.

Thanks for the tip Frank.

I'm more of a Chiefs fan than a Shockers fan but whatever. :p
