• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all, I am not new to scanning conventional frequencies but this motorola trunking stuff is a headache to get ahold of...lol... My local area in Augusta Georgia from what I can gather on the net, is using the type 2 system. I found 17 active frequencies and put them in the scanner and set them all for motorola. Sorry, before I go any farther I am using the pro 95 handheld. Now, all of the information I have found on the internet has the fleet I'Ds for example as being 53040. Now when the scanner itself stops on these frequencies, numbers like 23600 show up at the bottom of the display. The numbers on the scanner are the correct ones if I'm understanding correctly and the ones on the internet are old maybe???? Am I thinking right here? Any help or direction at all would be helpful. It is impossible to follow the police department here without inputting the right fleet codes :? If you need anymore info please let me know, I will answer what I can. This scanner seems to do great things, I just wish I understood this trunking deal so I could fully enjoy it :)

If i understand your question correctly, the new #s at the botom of the display just mean that the scanner has found new talkgroups. You have the option to store them if you want. Feel free to Private Message me if you need help with the PRO-95.

Hope This Helps

I finally gave up and bought the computer cable and installed win95. Wow, what a difference that made in setting up this scanner. I found the same ID's listed here on the sight for my local area and I used the ones that matched with what I was seeing on the scanner and it seems to be trunking correctly now. After I hear the transmission end during trunking, the ID stays up at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds to wait for another transmission and there is also a " - " instead of a " + " under the trunking bank. Does that sound like everything is working properly to you? I appreciate your reply, and the help offer. With all the neat things this scanner does, I may need you in the future! lol.

Yep. That's perfectly normal. The pause after the trunking ID is just letting you hear the other side of the conversation. That's why there is the delay. It lets you hear the other person respond without the scanner switching to another ID. And the + and - signs mean open or closed bank. See your manual's table of contents for this. :D

Hope This Helps

When the - is under the bank it means the bank is in closed mode and will scan only the talk groups you have programed. When the + is under the bank it is in open mode and will scan any active id even if it is not programed in the scanner. Pressing Func key then the number 5 key will toggle the open and closed mode. :D

Thanks for helping out a newbie! This scanner is awesome! Especially for $149.00. After I finally figured out the trunking feature, I found out that some of my local and some distant (but still in range to hear) departments have gone to the motorola type 2 system. No more 512mhz only scanners for me  Again, thanks for the help and a big thumbs up for such an awesome web site FULL of the RIGHT information.
