Hello folks

39 yr old single male with way to much time on his hands. Have rediscovered the hobby of radios after a short intro to them as a kid. Been listening to broadcastify here in central Missouri upon a neighbors tip I could get on my smart phone. Well thirty days later I'm waiting on a sdr chip for my computer. Figured it would be a smart purchase to see wether I stay with it or not.
Seems everyone here has a question and I am no different lol. Boy are there a lot of abbreviations. Lol Maybe that Morse code I learnt as a 16 yr old will finally come in handy.

By SDR chip do you mean one of those USB SDR dongles? If so there's lots of good info here on the forum.

Morse code is still alive and well on the ham bands and if you listen around on shortwave it's here and there in the form of station id's (e.g.WLO, TAH) on marker frequencies. 4XZ also sends fast code that'll have your pencil flying!

Welcome back to the hobby and have fun.

Hello to a fellow newbie! I was a licensed ham until a few years ago. (Divorce does that to a guy! LOL) I too am just getting back into our shared passion for radio. I am just getting into scanning so I look forward to interacting with so many of the "experts" here on this site! Welcome to the "newbie club!"
