What are these antennas used for on New Hampshire State Police cruisers. Attached is a picture.
I know the long one is the VHF one, what about the shorter Laird antenna on the hood?
Also what are the two "sharkfin" antennas on the trunk used for, and also the brand of those antennas?

I always assume the shorter one on the roof was UHF for DOT interoperability. I believe the one in the middle of the trunk is panorama brand, not sure on use. The antenna on the right of the trunk is probably cell data for the MDT terminals.

The center whip on the trunk is an 800MHz antenna.

The shorter one on the roof looks to be a 5/8th's wave UHF antenna.

The latest NHSP chargers run tri-band mobile radios through a multiplexer. Long VHF on the roof, UHF right behind that one. On the trunk has the custom shark with 7/800 antenna. Fin to the right connects to a mobile broadband modem.

The trunk mounted antenna is a Panorama "Sharkee" unit, with GPS, Cellular, WiFi (all for the MDT), and 700/800 MHz RF. The unit on the right of the trunk is strictly for the in-car and body worn camera system, and are provided by the state's contracted vendor. Last I knew, the camera video was still only uploading via "waypoints" at NHDOT Fuel Stations and DOS buildings via WiFi- they do not use cellular uploading.

Both roof antennas are Lairds, one is a 5/8 wave 3dB VHF and 5/8 wave 3dB UHF whip.

What is the need for 700/800 antenna? Do they have access to the Manchester or Nashua trunked system? Do they also have access to the MA State police system as well?

Yes, all NH State Troopers have a portable and mobile that can access both Manchester and Nashua's systems.

Certain units (air wing, EOD) have additional access to MA state police.
