I am working on realigning the NJTA TRS with admins. We have corrected the GSP maintenance district's as far as their designations and their assigned coverage. I have to speak to radio repair to get the proper TGID's to go with the district's. I will be doing the same for the Turnpike District's as well.

Upon further review, this info is not directly radio related, and thus belongs in the wiki. I've created a new page for the info regarding the maintenance districts and yards, which is linked on the main wiki page for the trunked system.

Any further updates to that page can be made by any member, and should not be submitted to the database. Thanks!

Edit: Obviously any info related to the talkgroups themselves should still be submitted.

I noticed that Paramus is tagged "Yard 2" and yet on the sign outside their building it says "Yard 8" also the yard districts seem to contradict eachother.

It has the south yards listed with north numbers and the north yards listed with south numbers and 8 not listed.

Maintenance South: Districts 1-4
Maintenance Central: Districts 5-6
Maintenance North: Districts 7-8

Yard 1 - Paramus
Yard 2 - Clifton
Yard 2U - Union
Yard 3 - Clark
Yard 4 - Telegraph Hill
Yard 4H - Herbertsville
Yard 5 - Ocean
Yard 6 - White Horse
Yard 7 - Swainton

wonder if it would benefit all involved entities to just combine this with NJICS. It’s crazy to me the state pays for 3 separate trunked systems.

The NJTA is funded by tolls collected on the roadways...not by the state government.
I understand that it’s a state authority with a separate revenue stream but it’s still government just like NJTransit is still government. Whether revenue is from users or taxpayers that’s just semantics. I’m just saying that it’s a triplication of government spending/services to operate 3 independent trunked systems with overlapping footprints with no interoperability amongst them. Conceivably you could have all 3 with sites on one tower (there probably are) and if that’s a privately owned tower then that’s 3 lease payments from 3 governments entities. Just seems very typically a NJ thing to do. Kind of like how my property taxes goto pay for 3 separate school districts haha. Just MHO about government excess. Moving on….

I get it, it definitely feels like a NJ thing to do haha but there are other factors at play as well based on the end users.
NJTAs system was designed for portable coverage on the full length of both roadways and I would guess is directional along them.
NJ Transit Bus was designed to cover their established bus & light rail routes with capacity in mind. Many of sites are directional and some have limited talk capacity.

True...NJCIS is not the one size fits all kinda system that all agencies in the state can use. At the time it was already reaching capacity for the # of sites and subs. Now that they have expanded and have 2 zones instead of one, they can finally get things sorted out with all their users and sites. No way NJICS could handle over 4,000 NJT radios at the time along with the data requirements.

This is the updated TGID's. I have submitted them for review. I have 2 more channels we use periodically an Ops Events channel and Headquarters channel. I have to do my own research on those though. Once I get them I will submit them.
