NJSP Helicopters.

Should I be able to hear NJ State Police Helicopters on Talk Group 26864? Or are they on another talk group or just not that active?
I've set up a channel just for state police aviation & marine. Marine is busy as usual this time of year, but I haven't picked up any air transmissions.

According to the NJSP Special Operations Section at:

The Aviation Bureau has a fleet of eight (8) helicopters; five (5) state of the art Agusta AW139s, two (2) Bell 206 Long Rangers and one (1) OH-58 military surplus helicopter.

Since these aircraft are not available for public tracking per request from the owner/operator, you'll have to rely on a service such as:

to see which are in service at any given time. You will, however, need the "N" numbers for those aircraft.

I listen to state police helicopters on either system. I monitor Central. They are on whatever talk group on either system that is division call, that's the helicopter talk groups as long as I can remember, I listen to C3- 01. I also monitor C3 - 10 which is the patched Marine police, they have their own helicopters also. I prefer the old system, but I live near the Bordentown simulcast site so either system will do.

Here's something I had in my phone that I had made up for someone else.

So the New Jersey Forest fire fighters have their own aircraft too as was said and here are just a few of the frequencies or the main ones that you could hear them on also channel 10 is the air net. That's 159.285 PL 179.9

Now the 2 talk groups that you see for the state police C3- 01 and C3- 10 is the old New Jersey State Police system. We will have the old system until at least the middle of 22. Those talk groups are for Central simulcast. They are patched for Statewide and as I was saying C3 - 01 is really called division call.
