Anyone else notice that talkgroup 53296 (C3-15 HMLPW) GSP Holmdel is now being simulcast on the Troop B system (at least it is off the Netcong tower)?

KC2KZZ told me about this. I can't figure out why, maybe it's for Inter-Op or REMU testing something.

We're seeing this more and more. I have also seen C3-8 & C3-10 on Troop B also.
I thought the GSP, NJTP, & Aeromedical talk groups were all simulcast statewide on all 3 systems.

some talkgroups are set for statewide. This is part of the new SmartZone Omnilink system. Troop A just was switched over last week.

I would not loose sleep over this. NJSP not doing anything soon. There radio system is so screwed up it is not funny any longer. I heard a roomer and only a roomer they want to get rid of the 800 trunked system all together. I still wonder why they gave up on the
Parkway and Turnpike VHF repeater systems they where great in it's day.

IMO the trunked system and APCO P25 systems are the worse thing to happen to
PS radio.

Without getting into a war, even though trunking, digital and encryption are the lastest phase, it seems the public safety community is being pulled in two different directions. ON the one hand they want the "security" of digital and encryption. On the other hand there is a push for interoperability communications. I think most of us feel the ladder is more important! One of the reasons folks are now hedging about going digital and encrypted is tthe disaster that rocked the Gulf Coast. I think people are going to take a step back and start reealizing the lastest and greatest technology is really horrible when it comes to; a REAL EMERGNCY!!!!

I hope you are right about that. Ironically, more REMU testing digital today on 40976 and also on I-Call as well.

So long as Mike Chertoff and the boys at DHS keep handing out those 55 gallon drums of money for "interoperability", the Motorola Sales staff will be able to afford those platinum hubcaps for their Rolls. If it can be terrorism grant funded, they will come. If they come, we will buy those digital systems. Hell, Pete Harvey's Terrorism War Wagon is just one good example of those NJSP "processing fees" for administering local public safety grants. MaCom/Tech Tron uber alles for EDACS Provoice Systems now being installed around the beautiful, fragrant, State of New Jersey as well. Frankly, I don't see Rickie Fuentes spending any money to change systems any more than he will give up his bagpipe. Too time comsuming and confusing for our French Blues.

When a trunked system is researched, configured, and maintained properly it works as good as a non-trunked (conventional) radio system. Same thing goes for a digital system. The problem is when you have many hands in the cookie jar and too many agency folks with checkbooks buying into Motorola's "it'll be fine, trust us" claims of interoperabillity.

HillBilly...

My source is direct from the NJSP Radio Shop, Also the 800 radio system in NJ has thousands of users and the State has 0 money. That have patch upon patch and
I think it is a prooven fact the trunked radio system do not belong in P.S.
Just look what happen to the Troop B system on 9/11.

So do the math it's a long way off if ever. I think they should spent more money on fixing the broken SPEN system which in my eyes is a nationwide disgrace along with many other things that are F.U. on the statewide level.

Cheers.

Agreed, SPEN, and its abuse, is a disgrace...but what do you propose to "fix" it?

I dont know if this is doable or not but how about every county gets a talk group on the SP system. hudson county has one. this would provide interop as well as the ability to track those who abuse the system. Just a thought .

I like the idea of every county getting a TG on the NJSP system, but one major issue...if every county were to get a specific TG ID, how would towns that border one or more counties put out a stop and hold?

For an example my town is in one county but borders two other counties, how would we put out a BOLO over just one TG? What about using DTMF or MDC encoding?

Hello,
Bsed on my monitoring I don't believe South is Omnilink as I am hearing many far away stations like GSP, AC Marine and 3-com from the Berlin tower.

I believe if it is an omni system then the TG is only broadcast from a tower which another unit on that TG has affiliated with...I cannot rule out concidence though....

Just an observation.
