The other way around. Older P25 Phase I capable scanners can receive the D talkgroups.
Oh damn, so pretty much anything that is simulcasted from the 800 system is D, all the non simulcasted stuff is T. Is that pretty accurate?

I used to hear the North Simulcast Troop B up here in Ct. about 75% of the time. The Control Channel is also now being used by Bristol, Ct. trunked system so that pretty much took care of that. But it seems like I should still hear the control channel at least hetrodynimg with the Bristol one because I don't get the Bristol CC very strong. So my guess is that the Troob B system may be transmitting with less power or the transmitter changed in some way. I am presently getting the NJICS sites Union County simulcast site and West Orange simulcast sites perfectly for comparison.

Yup, pretty much. Note that the NJSP activity can be hit or miss on the NJICS system, depending on which site you monitor. Gotta have a radio affiliated at the site with the talkgroup for it to simulcast.

You're picking up NJICS in Milford, CT? That's impressive. You must be at a high elevation.

Yes I'm at 129 feet ASL and 800 ft. Yes I'm at 129 feet ASL and 800 ft. From Long is. Sound. Basically nothing in the way from me to the water. Like having a 129 foot mast on the house :D

That's pretty good. I live right outside of Newark at close to 500' elevation and I have never been able to pick up anything from CT except for a very faint signal of Stamford Fire VHF many years ago.

We used to get Fairfield CT FD in JC on the FD rigs if we had open PL on 460-550. We would get Fairfield NJ too, but that's no trick for JC.

Hi guys/gals.
After a few times trying what y'all suggested I haven't had no luck yet.
On FreeScan I have the options of programming NJSP as follows.
I have tried 1 through 4 with no results.
1- Moto 800mhz Type I
2- Moto Type II / P25
3- P25 standard Digital XT
4- P25 one freq trunk Digital XT
5- LTR
6- EDACS Scat
7- EDACS Narrow Wide.
I feel I am missing a setting or something.
As a side note I have Morris County system programmed in and I hear everything from Morristown to Rockaway loud and clear.

Thanks again.

On my 396xt I use
Site setup = Motorola 800 Mhz Standard (Type ll)

Under trunked system setup
Motorola type ll / p25

use the control channel and 3 alternates for Troops A B or C whichever is closest to you

Ok. Here is the latest.
I found an old Radio Shack 800mhz rubber ducky. I stuck it on and picks up a little
but not any of the other channels I have programmed.
So as of now I will continue to use my Tram mag mount and wait till I either move or get an upstairs apt
to monitor the 800 system.
Thanks for all of your help.
God Bless †
